Note: To my lovable girlfriend Nicole, I do apologized for this late post. I’ve been quite busy the past weeks. Sorry na. Iloveyou so much :*
Last August 19, 2017. I went to Tuguegarao to visit my girlfriend. I’ve been saving money since January 2017 just to visit her and now the day has come. It is also my first time traveling alone so congratulations to me. HAHA!
Tuguegarao City is a city located at Cagayan Province and is known for its humid temperature. Actually there is nothing much to see in Tuguegarao aside from the old churches and panciterias scattered around the place.
How to get to Tuguegarao?
From Manila, you have two options. By Bus or By Plane. I did both. Going to Tuguegarao by bus and coming back to Manila by plane.
Buses bound for Tuguegarao are available from Manila. You can choose to ride a Victory Liner Bus at their Kamias terminal or Florida Bus at their Manila terminal. Both bus companies offers a regular and deluxe/first class bus ride. Only Florida has a sleeper bus. Travel time from Manila to Tuguegarao is 12 hours.
In my case I chose to ride a first class bus of Victory Liner since it has a lavatory (CR) inside. Also first class buses has one or no stop over. Bus fare for a regular bus bound to Tuguegarao costs 671 pesos and for deluxe/first class it is 890 pesos.
Just a book a flight at Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines. Lowest regular price that I saw is 1400 pesos. One way.
My 12 hour bus ride
Its was my first time riding a first class bus of Victory Liner and I felt that I’m not even riding a first class bus. I read that first class buses do have attendants but I didn’t saw any attendant during my ride. I also read about first class buses offer electrical outlets, I didn’t saw a single outlet. The seat smells like it hasn’t been clean for a week. WiFi was slow. Lavatory is not clean. I am quite disappointed actually. But anyway. If Victory Liner is reading this post. Kindly check those problems. Thank you.
I am used to long ride so a 12 hour ride is not that much of a hassle for me.
Seeing my girl for the first time
Do you know the feeling when you are going on an interview? That’s what I felt. I am excited but nervous. Excited because after how many months of being in a LDR I am going to be with her at last, nervous because what if she didn’t like me. I mean in personal. Seeing each other virtually is different from seeing each personally. Moment of truth. I’ve arrived at Victory Liner Tuguegarao Terminal.
Then I saw her. I was surprised! Its like that we’ve been together for a very long time, even though this is the first time we saw each other personally. No awkwardness at all. I hugged her right after I saw her. All those nervousness has turned into happiness and excitement. After many months of waiting I can say LDR no more!
Getting around at Tuguegarao City
The main transportation in Tuguegarao is tricycle. Minimum fare is 10 pesos. There are UV express in Tuguegarao but these are bound to nearby provinces.
Where to stay?
There are numerous hotels and inns at Tuguegarao. You can just walk-in or for convenience, book your room online. If you want to book your room online, try to book it at Traveloka. Every week they have promos and discounts which you can use when you book a room at a hotel or book a flight. Click here to visit their site.
Traveloka is one of the leading flight and hotel booking platforms in Southeast Asia, serving more than 100,000+ flight routes and 100,000+ hotels worldwide. We work hard to provide our customers with the cheapest hotel and flight rates every day! – traveloka.com
So where did I stay? I booked a room at Hotel Joselina – Cagay Branch via Traveloka since this hotel is just near to Nicole’s place. If I am going to rate this hotel I will give it 4.5 / 5. Overall this hotel is a thumbs up. The only problem I had experience during my stay is that the shower in my room is not working so they gave me a pale and “tabo” for me to use. The room is clean. I haven’t tried the meals they offered. And last is it very near to the airport and all leading establishments. The room costs 1000 pesos per night but since I’ve booked the room at Traveloka and there is an on going promotion it was lessen to 800 pesos. A good deal for an air conditioned room for two.
If there is no on-going promotion at Traveloka, you can try TravelBook. Just like Traveloka, TravelBook offers cheap hotels and flight rates. Click here.
From Callao Cave to meet the parents real quick
Okay, the real plan for this trip is that we are going to Callao Cave but then the plan was changed when Nicole’s sister saw the picture of my plane ticket a week before my trip. After that my girlfriend wanted me to meet her parents. Well that’s a bummer, I didn’t see Callao Cave. But the real highlight of this trip is not going to Callao Cave but to see her and to know her more. So after leaving my things at the hotel, we ride a UV express van bound to Appari where her parents and siblings live. We’ve arrived at their house. There we ate lunch and watched TV. Sadly I haven’t talked to her parents. I don’t know why, maybe because I am just too shy to talk since I cannot understand what they are saying because they are talking in Ilocano. Also her parents is not talking to me that much so I really don’t know what to do that time. Sorry babe 🙁
After meeting her parents we went back to Tuguegarao and had dinner at the hotel.
Jeff’s Panciteria – The best pancit I had ever tried so far
The next day, we decided to eat pancit. When you visit Tuguegarao you should definitely eat pancit. They have two kinds of pancit here. They have Pancit Cabagan and Pancit Batil Patong. We went to Jeff’s Panciteria the top one of best panciteria in Tuguegarao. You should visit this place. I am serious here! We had the special Pancit Batil Patong which cost around 60 pesos if I remember and it was huge! I think one pancit serving can be shared by 2 people. Until now I still remember the taste of that pancit in my palate. (I’m craving while writing this post)
Sad part.. It’s time to go
I know that my visit is only limited and I need to go back to Manila. At the hotel, while preparing my things I saw Nicole crying. Its my first time to see a girl cry because of me (wow, pogi). Kidding aside. I told her I’ll be back for sure. Here’s a video of us at the airport.
And that sums up my weekend trip at Tuguegarao City. I really enjoyed my time there, especially I’m with my love. To Nicole, I’ll be back babe. That’s a promise 🙂
I don’t have any itinerary for my trip this time. Maybe next time I visit Tuguegarao I will make one. Besides this trip is all for Nicole. Di ba babe? Iloveyou so much 🙂
